"Aging out" refers to young adults leaving the foster care system, typically between the age of 18 and 21, to transition into independent living because they have reached the maximum age the State will provide support, and they exit the system without achieving a permanent family connection through adoption or reunification.
It is a pivotal moment requiring support and resources to navigate this new chapter where young adults take on more responsibility for their lives. Aging out emphasizes the development of skills and resources needed for independent living, including housing, finances, employment and personal care.

Yes! We absolutely collaborate with other experts and resources to aid in the delivery of comprehensive financial information and training.
For government-funded programs, there is usually no charge for MiCDC's services if your previous year's household income meets the annual federal poverty guideline. For pilot programs, there is usually no charge for anyone, regardless of household income.
